Abstract Paintings 2015 to Present

Abstract, non-objective painting has a purity in that it refers to nothing outside of itself. It has a basic elemental flavor that seeks meaning through structure and form, colors and rhythms, and dynamics. Painting is a search for a network of interconnectedness resonating into a “sweet spot”, the locus of structure that activates the rectangular format. For me, it’s an organic process replete with proclivities, gestures, accidents and Improvisation. And a process fraught with the distractions of experience, knowledge (both a blessing and a curse), and influences. I try to put myself in a place of meditation and play. Only there do I feel unfettered, so that the painting can be wholly of itself, speaking for itself, insisting on its unique essence and path toward resolution.
